Root fracture with 5-year follow-up.

Patient referred to the clinic for orthodontic pre-treatment evaluation of tooth 21 with root fracture, with report of trauma 5 years ago and absence of signs and symptoms. Clinical examination revealed no response to percussion, palpation and pulp vitality tests. Radiographic examination revealed an area of root fracture without any signs of pulp necrosis and suggestive of satisfactory repair. It was also observed in the coronary fragment, image of repair tissue in the apical region and obliteration of the pulp chamber, justifying the non-response to the thermal test.

The patient was then released for treatment without the need for intervention.
