Endodontic materials. Checklist.

The ergonomics related to endodontic materials is relegated by many professionals, it is very important for a correct learning and development. With better organization, it is possible to gain time and efficiency, reducing treatment costs and gaining in final treatment quality. This checklist can be used to organize and check endodontic materials, and is used in our refresher courses, reinforcement, specialization and updating courses throughout Brazil.

On the main table, clinical, should be the instruments and materials for absolute isolation (Palmer forceps, Ainsworth punch, arch, sheet, clamps, scissors, dental floss), irrigation (needles and saline syringes, sodium hypochlorite, EDTA, intermediate cannulas and aspiration tips), obturation (main cones and auxiliary cones, endodontic cement, paper cones, Mc Spadden compactor, lighter and lamp) and cervical sealing (resin spatula, common resin and flow resin, dentin adhesive, microbrush and phosphoric acid), should be arranged in separate trays so they can be used and set aside after use, without interfering in the other phases.

With time, the professional gets used to this organization and the process becomes much simpler and more routine. It is also important to have a main tray that allows the organization of small items, such as anesthetics, needle, ruler, cotton rolls, gauze, drum with endodontic files, besides the clinical instruments. In the team, or smaller table, should be the auxiliary materials, such as magnifying glass, negatoscope, radiographic film, diamond bur, glidden gates burs, ultrasound tips organizer box, cotton pot, file organizers, high rotation pen and low rotation micromotor.

According to the available space, peripherals such as endodontic motor, ultrasound, radiographic sensor, thermocompactor, apical locator, and protective and biosafety materials (patient and professional goggles, bib, auxiliary fields) should be placed. The chemicals must be pre-loaded in the syringe to avoid accidents with spills on the worktable.
